Titleist 990/990B

    I've been a fan of Titleist 990/990B irons since their introduction. Anyone still playing them? Which shaft and flex did you choose? Have you moved on to Titleist CB or MB or maybe AP2? Would you order a new set if Titleist re-issued them?

    I played the 990 with the S300 shaft. Switched last march to the 714 CB. They look and play like an upgraded version of the 990. As much as liked the 990, I couldn't be happier with the 714 CB.

    I love the 990's. I was able to get a great deal on them from someone on Craigslist. I keep mine with my spare set that I use for practice. I have the original Rifle FCM 6.0 shafts 3-P and a 2 iron with a flighted 5.5 shaft.

    I did eventually move onto the 712 CB set which I was also able to get on Craigslist at a great price. They feel marginally better, probably because they're forged instead of cast. Performance-wise I cant tell the difference.

    I'm not sure I would re-order 990's if they were ever re-issued. For one, they're stainless steal and practically indestructible, so I don't really need to replace them. But it would be cool to see a cast blade again.
