Hi I recently bought my AP2 716 Irons 4-PW and I am so disappointed that the black paint has started to come off some of the irons. I never had this problem with my AP2 712's. Can they be repainted considering they are not even 5 months old? As a loyal Titleist user this is the first time that I have been disappointed with the quality of equipment.

  2. It's just going to happen. If a club goes into your bag and another club hits that edge, there is nothing titleist can do to stop paint being taken off. Plus, it's paint, the face isn't shattering.

Mine have done the exact same thing! I hate the looks of the wore-off paint on my 3 month old clubs.

    Hi guys,
I own the 714 AP2's and as you probably know, they have a very similar back on the club head with the medallion and the painting scheme.

I have not had any of the associated paint wear that your clubs are showing. I am curious though, do you wash your clubs regular (ie: immersing in soapy water)? Or do you use a brush on the back side of the club heads?

I make mention of it because I am very careful to only use the brush on the front of my clubs and I only use a brush (nylon bristles) on the back when needed to remove a bit of grass, etc. (from those "pure" strikes!)

I was a bit weary of creating premature paint wear as well, so that is why I adopted the approach that I did -- I've had my clubs for two seasons now and they are still going strong!

I hope you get this sorted out guys -- you have clubs that you like and want to keep them looking fresh and new as long as possible.

Same thing happened with my 714's, took them to a titleist authorized place and had them fill out a warranty work order and they sent them to tileist and they repainted them for free
  6. Hi Garrison,

I spoke to John about his irons yesterday, and wanted to pass along the same info. Please take your irons to your local golf shop, have them setup a warranty inspection, and we will be more than happy access the situation. If you have any issue getting this setup please let us know.

Just sucks not having your club for an extended amount of time for something as simple as a paint fill.

I think its the way you have them arranged in your walking bag. If you are concerned about the back, you can place the in reverse order, wedges on the left to longer irons to the right. It will help the short clubs from grinding inside the cavity, but then they will just start grinding against the faces. Other people will likely not have this problem if they are using a cart or larger bag.

If you would rather not go through the process of sending them in, go to a auto parts dealer, find matching touch up paint, buffing compound, soft cloths, and have at it. I am assuming it is urethane based paint like on the drivers. Probably will cost you less thana sleeve of Pro-Vs and an afternoon.

Hi all thanks for the comments, as Chris mentioned I contacted my local pro and my irons were sent off to Titleist last Thursday. I have since played 3 games with 4 clubs, 2 x vokeys, I x Hybrid and my driver. Some very creative play and great fun! But really missing my AP2's wonder how long it will take?
