  1. I have been playing my DCI 981's (1 iron-PW) since 2000 and I believe it is about time to replace them as much as I have loved playing them. What is the closest I can get to this great set of irons? Is it the AP1, AP2 or something else?

    Thanks

I just went through the same thing. I have been playing a set of DCI 962s for 15 years. I too felt it was time for new clubs and I thought I wanted the closest substitute. Long story short, I decided to get fitted by a Titleist fitter. I took the guessing out and let a TrackMan show me the difference. Just ordered custom AP1s and could not be happier. It really was a minimal cost for the experience, knowledge, confidence and connections gained. Just my two cents. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  3. I had 981's from 2000 until August 2015...I ended up going with AP2s (I replaced the 3 iron with a T-MB this summer - highly recommend that if you don't like hybrids). I also got fitted by a Titleist fitter for the AP2s, but tried the AP1s there. Everyone is different. I think the AP2s feel better. The fitting gets the best shaft which is key.
