  1. having a hard time figuring out if they are chrome plated like my old AP2's... seems as though durability after the initial couple rounds isn't what I would have expected, but then again they are golf clubs

are these just polished? does anyone have any long term experience in regards to durability of these irons compared to the past?

seems like the new stuff from all the OEM's doesn't hold up as well compared to clubs made in the late 90's early 2000's....

    thanks

Do you have pictures you can share with us? I've had my AP1s since February and have used them extensively on the range and in play. The only wear I have seen is my "W" wedge has lost the paint indicating the club on the sole. This wore off very early only because I spent a lot of time in bunkers practicing. The warranty should cover abnormal wear if you contact your dealer.

  4. No pics.... the wear isn't terrible... I was at a range which is known to be a bit sandy. Some sand must have gotten caught between the club face and ball at impact and marred the face up a bit but I think that would happen with any club of any finish or material?

played a couple rounds and had some range sessions on mats too.... the nylon matts seem to scratch the soles a bit but no paint issues for me

they are golf clubs afterall, but still seems funny the finish/polish wears on the soles that quickly. I'd imagine the chrome plated AP2's wear a bit nicer.

in a couple more months I won't care any more about cosmetic blems... after all I did have a hole in one the first round I ever played with my AP1's :)
  5. They are chrome on a majority of the head, but have more of a brushed satin type finish on the sole.

I've got maybe 12-14 rounds under the belt with mine since getting them a few months back, and have seen no decrease in visual appeal. I think they're going to hold up just fine.

I play three days a week and have had not problems with mine since I bought them, earlier this year. I wipe them after play and keep them clean and have not noticed any excessive wear.

Congrats Mike on your ace! I wonder if you are the first Titleist 716 AP1 owner to score an ace?
