after patiently waiting my new "2 iron" came in from Titleist. i ordered a 716 Ap1 3 iron 2 degrees strong and 1/2" longer. immediately went to the range and I LOVE IT. i have never really liked hybrids so i went with this and i love the ball flight. exactly what i was looking for! as always Titleist exceeds my expectations !!!

excellent! I have been thinking about the same exact move - my hybrid is nice but I miss my 3 iron and all the different shots that I could hit with it.

I need to pull the trigger and do this......did you get fitted for the new iron??

Yes Chris i went to my Titleist fitter who fit me for my set of 714 AP1s a couple years ago. when he understood what i was looking for he recommended the 2 degrees strong and 1/2" longer that would equal a 2 iron. he had me hit the T-MB first then we settled on the 716 AP1.

Wow! 2 iron, don't see those words linked together much! I bought a 4 iron for my set and struggle with full swings of it, usually use it for punch shots when i need to hit one over 150 and low. Needless to say, very impressed with homage you are paying to those who never played the hybrid. Game on fellow TTer
  5. I can't hit hybrids either, I hook every one I've ever tried. I have a 20 year old 2 iron in the bag that I still rely on off the tee if everything is going wrong, it's my security blanket.

Didnt realise a 2 iron was an option I have an old wi.son fat shaft 1 iron.

4 weeks today I am being fitted for new clubs Hopefully 716AP2.

unfortunately its not an option thats why i went with a 3 iron bent 2 degrees strong and 1/2" longer so its essentially what a 2 iron would be if Titleist offered one.
  8. I play the 714 U 2 iron and i love it. I hate hybrids, the 2 iron is such a good club for me. Before that i was using the 962 2 iron and what a difference the 714U made for my game. M Black i used to have a set of the Wilson fat shafts and loved them, they are great clubs.

When you had it bent three degrees string didn't that effect the bounce? Do you find yourself digging into the turf more with the less bounce on the club? I love the idea and would like to have more feedback on it before I do the same things!

i hit the MB-T and wanted it to work for me but my swing is not consistant enough. the 716 AP1 "2 iron" (3 iron bent strong 2 degrees) is much more forgiving for me. i have an 816 hybrid but just don't like it. it's crazy but i am far more consitant with my "2" and 3 irons then i am with the 816. i am very confident on the tee with my old 714 AP1 3 iron and wanted just a little more. thats why i went with the 716 AP1 3 iron bent 2 degrees strong. it is smooth like butter :)
  11. I'm not a huge fan of the U line, but I dream that they would make an option for an cb or ap2 1 and 2 iron....

Hey Jim! After several years of INCONSISTENT hybrid and fairway wood shots (right, left, short, long, high, low, topped, fat), I dedicated myself to practicing hitting my 3 iron off the deck beginning around Thanksgiving weekend (I live in Southern California). It is now March and I am in love with it. So much so, that I'm looking for a 2 iron for my non-driver tee shots! As a matter of fact, for the courses I play, I have NO need for either hybrids or fairway woods! FOR ME, they hurt my score by exaggerating misses in the right or left rough. I plan to follow your lead, Jim!
