I was recently fitted for the 917 D3 8.5*. I was previously using a 913 D2 9.5*. I've only played one round so far with my new driver and love it already.

I have two questions about 3 woods. I have l a 913 F2 15*. Before I get fitted for a 3w I was wondering if anyone has made the switch from 913 to 917 on fairways. If so have you notice a significant difference? With the courses I play I would use it off the tee and off the surface pretty much equally. My second question is if someone uses a D2 or D3 do the typically match up with the corresponding F2 or F3 or is it completely different.

I wanted to get a little feedback before scheduling a fitting because I would feel obligated to buy if I went and got fitted.

I have made the switch back and forth between the f and f2. My recommendation is to go into the fitting with an open mind and hit both models from both the tee and the turf and make your choice. I have a mix of both f and f2 in my bag.

I play a 915D2 9.5 set at 11* (this loft gives me the additional lift with less spin, great accuracy and the distance I need) and have the new 917f3 15* in my bag. The 917 fairway is an awesome fairway. Long and straight, of course depending on the shaft that the fitter sets you up with. My driver has the Aldila Black Rogue 70 and the fairway has the Aldila Rogue M*AX 75. I rely on the fitters and Mr Trackman. I tried a number of heads and shafts until we got the right fit. I am very happy with my makeup. Both fitters were Titleist certified fitters.
  4. I was wondering the same thing. I really like the 917 D3 driver but the F3 head is pretty small. It's probably not that big of a deal to mix and match, especially if you hit the F2 better.

Hey - I've actually done the opposite. Still playing my 913 8.5 but got fitted and LOVE the 917F2 15 deg. Fitted for the speeder pro 84 and since the spin numbers dropped, I gained 15 yards versus the 915. With the F2, it's a viable play for me off of the tee carrying 240 consistently. Now I need to upgrade my driver to keep up! I'm surprised you dropped loft from your 913 to 917. What are your spin numbers and launch angle like? Good luck on getting that 3W in your bag - I definitely need to pull the trigger soon!!

I didn't get fitted when I bought my 913 the guy at the golf shop just said 9.5 stiff shaft should be good. During my fitting for the 917 by spin rates were right around 2000. 1800-2200 on all my swings. We actually had it adjusted to 7.75. My brother was fitted for a custom 7.5 915 last year. Even at 7.75 I get the ball in the air a little more than I would like. I always joke that my drives spin back like they're a wedge shot.
