TT I am considering on moving from AP1s to AP2s but was wondering what differences I mighty expect such as distances , feel dispersion etc, Any insights would be appreciated.

Simple answer is you will be able to move the ball left or right easier with the 2s...The one is typically longer, more forgiving and easier to hit for a weekend warrior.
  3. You probably would want to compare the specs. for the ap 1 and ap 2 irons.
For instance, the ap 1 ( 7 ) iron has 31 degrees of loft and the ap 2 ( 7 ) iron has 34 degrees of loft. This will give more height on the ap 2 irons and a loss of yardage.
the entire sets are configured with the same difference in loft. The length on both sets is the same. Hope this helps you.

Just a point regarding something stated above, you won't necessarily hit your AP2 7i higher, even though the loft is 3* weaker than an AP1 7i. The type/design of shafts in the iron will contribute greatly to height, as will the design of the head, which in the case of the AP1, is designed for a higher launch, with a lower CG.

Having played both AP2 and AP1 in my middle irons, I can say from experience that, all things being equal---shaft, ball, lie, same swing, same sweet spot contact, etc.---there should be very little distance loss with the AP2s. HOWEVER, the key is forgiveness. The AP1 is much more forgiving. Miss that sweetspot by the very slightest amount, and then yes, there will be a noticeable loss of distance compared to the same miss with an AP1.

For that reason, I play 7,8,9,P in AP2-716s. I want as much workability as possible with my scoring irons, which I generally make good sweetspot contact. I play AP1-716 in my longer irons. I want as much forgiveness as possible, while still having the ability work them a little left or right. I hit the AP1s straight and long most of the time, but certainly more often and likely longer than I might my AP2s.

FYI, in an effort to bridge the gap between the AP2 and AP1, I bent my AP2 7i 1* strong. I use the same shafts in all irons.
  5. As the above have stated you could possibly lose distance due to the specs for instance the stand loft on ap1 for 7 iron is 31 deg yet 34 for the AP2.

However with the correct fit you should gain more consistency and dispersion and that feeling when you button an AP2 out of the middle is unrivalled! Your fitter may also suggest slightly different lofts depending on the shafts you use and the peak height/dynamic loft. For instance my lofts are two degrees strong.

The AP2 are less forgiving, you are going to lose distance on toe/heel strikes but truth be told knowing this will focus your ball striking and if your like me it will improve as a result.

    I hope this helps

Dwayne, I did the opposite. I had a set of 714 AP2s and had heard a lot great things about the 716 AP1s with their distance and accuracy. Went to a fitting and we made some major changes in my lie, different shafts and absolutely love the new irons. I can draw the AP1s as I did with the AP2s. Never could fade my irons. Sorry to play devils advocate. Cheers, Chuck...................

The AP1 is a larger club face. It has more tungsten weighting, and is a little more offset. Titleist did make it higher launching with the MOI moved that also contributes to distance. My primary key is how accurate I strike the ball. My center on hits is over an inch wide, so I need the forgiveness. For feel and moving the ball left or right, the AP2 is wonderful. Steve Stricker has a wear pattern smaller than a nickel. That's why he uses AP2 and I use AP1.

My personal thoughts: Distance may drop slightly, feel may not be as soft as AP1, dispersion will be lesser. Easier to do shot shaping. Looks on club face definitely smaller and sexier than AP1.

Chuck, Can I ask what your irons and driver swing speeds are ? I am considering the XP 105 S300 shafts in my 716 AP 1 irons.
