Hi, at the moment I am using a cally alpha driver with a standard 565 stiff speeder shaft but I will be changing to a new Titleist 917 D2. I think I am probably looking for a lightweight 'firm' flex shaft but was wondering if best to go with a stiffer type regular shaft or a weeker type stiff shaft if I cant track down a firm shaft. Any thoughts welcome MS.

A good fitter will find the shaft with the correct weight and characteristics to match your swing. What I have found is I'm a lousy fitter and my guesses aren't even close. Also, most store fitters just go through a routine with a couple of stock shafts that will often match inventory on the floor. Not one of my clubs matches a club on the rack, but all the shafts are n/c versions of stock shafts.

Like Don said, have a Titleist fitting. Too many variables, you need to see your data on TrackMan. Guessing might give you poor results that you might think are the fault of the club.

Although I haven't always practiced what I preach I hope I am smarter now- you can't go wrong with a Titleist fitting to achieve the best result possible.
