  1. My fitter says swing weighting from the factory is a joke. He says a new set will have 2 or maybe 3 clubs at D0, and the rest are random.

I want to order the 2018 AP2's straight from the factory since I know all my spec's, but Im wondering if the swing weight rumour is true. Anyone have experience? Thanks

    Jay,

I have had 4 sets of AP1s, 710s, 714s, 716s, and now 718s. I always check the swing weight of each iron when I get a new set. The biggest difference between the highest swing weight and the lowest swing weight in any of these sets was between 1/4 and 1/2 a point.

My AP3'S are all within 1/2 swing weight,as are all my other Titleist iron sets.

The stated swingweight is based on the stock shaft, grip, length. Any custom order that changes that will alter swing weight accordingly, the only thing you can do is have the custom order specify a swingweight. Even that will only instruct the factory to attempt to get it close as they can, but the end swingweight is dictated by the parts themselves. The people at TT can reference a chart and tell you what your anticipated swingweight would be before you order.

Interestingly I learned recently that if you order wedges in a group, versus single, they will attempt to match swingweights. Obviously there are tight tolerances but some variances in final clubhead weights, so they will bring weights up on lighter wedges if one head is heavier.

I don't check loft on my irons. However, the lie on your irons is easy to check just by looking at your divots.
