Has Titleist given any thought to making a quality junior set with bag?   The old T Rex seems to be the last offering.

I've got a 10 yr old who plays close to scratch on executive courses and a "quality junior set" is almost a misnomer.  You can buy (not Titleist) Beginner Junior sets for 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 yr olds.   Each set will have a Driver/3 Wood, A hybrid or 2.  3 irons, and a junky putter. Apparently none of these manufacturers ever expect a kid to progress beyond beginner because when he or she outgrows the set, your only choice is to buy the next biggest beginner set.

Quality clubs for a young junior almost have to be custom fitted.  To get a kid into a 14 club set, I've taken to cutting down and modifying women's clubs with great success.  He really wants to play Titleist so I've modified some Vokey wedges and he loves them.  I just ordered him a pair of TVD Custom wedges and they came in at B7 swingweight instead of the predicted B0 so I think I'll have to take them to the machine shop for some Post Vokey customizations....

For now, he's stuck with another brand irons and woods.  I'm toying with reshafting and custom grinding a set of AP2s for Christmas.  My son has a friend whose father works for Titleist and he has a set  that his father made.  They are pretty sweet.  The thing about the AP2s is that you can do some grinding on the tungsten weight in the back to lighten them.  But they won't be as light as a women's set.

For woods, you're likely to do better going with a non-Titleist brand club that uses a lighter clubhead until they are at least 100 lbs.  I'm afraid my son won't be able to swing my old 909D3 but I think I'll reshaft it anyway and let him try it.

I can provide some recommendations on which clubs I've had good success with making Junior clubs out of but don't think I should really be endorsing other clubs here on this forum.  jerry.stephenson@earthlink.net

Probably right.  I think there is a market for an introductory set for kids 10+.  Then again, there is plenty of other mfgs doing the same.  Imagine the  kids buying a set of Ricky Fowler Junior clubs?
