    Hi,

Does the Aldila RIP shaft comes in a regular flex? Is there an upcharge for the regular flex?

    Thanks for your help,

    Ben

    Ben,

The Aldila RIP shaft is available in a regular flex and there is no upcharge when buying a 910 driver or fairway.  Best of Luck!

  3. Hi Ben -

The RIP comes in a regular flex option.  There is no up-charge to have this shaft put in.

I am ordering the 910 FD 15 degree fairway wood in the Aldila Rip shaft in regular flex.  I think the FD head is the best fairway wood I've ever hit (off the tee and off the turf) and I like the Rip shaft so much better than the Diamana shafts.  I will probably order the D2 driver in the Rip shaft, as well.  I will be testing the 910 driver with the Rip reg flex this Tuesday and, I can't wait to give it a try!

    Jon,

I agree with you on the Diamana shaft. I tried the regular flex in the Diamana shaft and it seems to play stiffer than the normal regular flex. I am thinking about getting a new fairway wood from the 910 collection, as well. I currently use the old titleist 904F with a green aldila stiff shaft. The shaft is just a tad stiff, but responds and plays great. I was told that the RIP shaft has the combination of a Voodoo and Green Alidila shafts. Let us know how it works out with the RIP in a regular flex.

    Thanks,

    Ben

Ben F: I will do just that.  The odd thing is this: the only demo club our club pro had was the 910FD with the RIP stiff shaft.  Now I don't have a swing speed that would cause one to recommend a stiff shaft but, I hit that club straight off the turf and very, very well off the tee. I just don't understand why I hit the stiff shaft so well.  I am going to order the club in the regular shaft and if, for some reason, I don't hit it as well in that flex, I will swap out shafts.  Thank goodness for that capability.  Nonetheless, I will post my experience with the regular shaft.  By the way, on Wednesday or Thursday this week, I will demo a D2 driver with the RIP shaft in a regular flex.

  7. I am playing a 904F with a YS-6 FW+ stiff shaft.  I am looking to replace it with the 901 F-D 15 degree.  What new shaft would be the closest replacement for the YS-6 FW+?

    thanks - TH

Does anyone know if the RIP 60 Stiff is actually 63g? Im trying to decide between the RIP 60 and the Diamana 'ilima 61 (which according to Titleist is 58 gram).

    Ben:

I received my new 910FD with the regular flex RIP shaft last Tuesday.  I have played two rounds with it.  First, I must say that I absolutely love the FD head.  I hit it well off the tee and the fairway.  I love the way it sounds when a ball is well struck with it: an authoritative crack.  As well, I like the way it looks at address.  While the size does give one confidence when one addresses the ball on the tee box, I was concerned that it might be more difficult to get up in the air off the fairway.  Well, let me tell you, that concern was unwarrented.  I find it relatively easy to get the ball up off the turf and get it well out there.

As for the shaft: I demoed the club with the RIP stiff shaft (the only sample my pro shop had) and played well with that flex.  I liked it so much I had my pro order it with the regular flex. The regular flex, which is more commonly recommended for my swing speed, seemed to have a bit more feel to me.  Yet, the shaft feels firmer than other shafts I've used and produces the trajectory I want more often than other stock shafts in other OEM 3 woods I've tried: I get a boring trajectory and the roll I am after.

In total, I am enormously pleased with the look, feel and results of the 910FD with the RIP regular flex shaft.  I hope this helps.

    Jon
