Well I've had my Tour Burners since I started playing about 2 years ago and well I feel I could use a new set. I am a scratch golfer and was just wondering what every ones thoughts were on these two sets. Since titleist fitting day is just 3 weeks away I will probably go and get fit but both sets feel great even though I haven't got to play a round with them yet. What is your thoughts on the workability of these sets, did you gain or loose any distance with these?

Also thinking about getting the 910F any complaints on these?

I recently got a set of AP2 710 's and although they're very forgiving more so then my old set 695 CB I have lost like 5 to 10 yards.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Could be a couple of reasons for your loss in distance.  The 695.CB's were built strong lofted and meant to flight the ball down whereas the AP2's are not only more forgiving, they have more loft and the head will naturally flight the ball higher.

You probably lost yardage because of the difference in lofts. The 695CB's are atleast a good 1* stronger through the set, to give it a lower ball flight.

Your probably hitting the ball higher, spinning it more, causing the shorter distance.

Might want to check the length of the clubs too!

I went from 690MB's to AP2710's and did not lose any distance or feel.  The AP2's are everything that I expected to keep my game sharp. I got the KBS Tour shafts and have no problem shaping shots.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by both irons.  You may just have to combo like me!

    AP2 3 iron at 4 iron specs

    5-7 CB

    8,9 MB

The 910Fs are really hot.  Almost flying to far for some of our players.

I have the 710 CB iron, they were gifts to me for my birthday.  I am 17 Handicap,  so you can tell it's a little harder for me to hit these irons.  YES, the AP2s are way more forgiving then the CBs.  I didn't want to buy a new set just cause it's forgiving to me, i have been taking some lessons from my club head pro.  The better i get on striking the balls the more i love my CB irons, and then hitting the AP2s just don't have the same feel as the CBs.  don't get me wrong, the AP2s are great irons too.  like i said; didn't want to spend $1000 on another set irons when i haven't break these CBs in yet!

I also have the 910F 3 wood!  Again, it's a gift.  my love how it comes off the clubface hot(the sound, feel)  escipially the launch i get of this wood!

Thanks everyone for the reviews. I believe I will be updating my bag to all new titleist clubs. I'm going with the CB 3-PW, 910 D3, 910F 15, then 910H 21 and 24 to replace the 3 and 4 iron. Then of course who can forget the scotty cameron newport 2.5. Hell might even add on a new titleist staff bag

please don't ge the staff bag unless you are a pro.  I have few friends who are scatch golfers has staff bags, and it make them look like wanna be!

There's no reason for me not to get one. I plan on going to Q-School next year and trying to make the tour within the next 2-3 years. I'm 17 BTW.

    Chris,

Good for you, follow your dreams and try to get on tour.  I would recommend going to college on a scholarship prior to attempting Q-school.  It will give you invaluable experience plus you get the benefit of a free education!!!  Also, grab the staff bag if you want one, I personally don't care what kind of bag someone has, I just care if they are fun to play with!!  Good luck!!!

I too recommend a college scholarship over Q school.  With my 10 yr old son we debate Stanford vs OK State but Q school never enters the conversation.

I just put a set of CB 710s in the bag.  After one round I think I love them, although the shaft makes more difference than the clubhead if you're hitting the sweet spot.

I too love the 695s, they are just getting beat up.  They are one degree stronger than the CB 710s.  I tried the AP2s and couldn't figure out how far I hit them.  Took them out of the bag for a while and the son claimed them. So now the new 710s may be the club of choice. the sure feel great on impact.

just like woods, especially at your level, you should get fitted for a shaft. A top fitter can also give you better advice on which irons than we can without seeing your swing.

I highly recommend getting to TPI for your fitting if you're that serious.  Get an evening job to pay for it if you have to.
