  1. I’m looking at buying a brand-new set of Titleist AP1 irons — they’re an older model but supposedly brand new (won at a golf tournament years ago by a non golfer). Before I pull the trigger, I’d appreciate any help verifying their authenticity.

Here are some photos the seller provided: (link or attach photos)

Have any of you come across fake AP1s before, or have tips on what to look for (serial numbers, stamps, weight differences, etc.)? I want to make sure they’re legit before making the purchase.

Any insight would be really appreciated — thank you!

No way to verify but based on the story and being only one owner, and probably the original box, they are likely original. Several generations old so resale value is low but they were (and still are) good clubs for a mid handicapper.
  3. If you call team titleist with this serial #, they can give you the specs for these golf clubs.

That they will be celebrating their 10th anniversary (4-5 generations back), they have been sitting around in storage somewhere. They weren’t so special that forgeries would have hit the market more than a year or 2 after the series ended. The story is likely more reliable than someone trying to unload a forgery.
That they are new should not command much of a premium over a good used set. The technology difference from a T350 is substantial. If the price is reasonable to a used set, worth a try.

Book value on those $229.42 retail, new. 5-W (six clubs)

Titleist customer service should be able to give you info on the clubs from the serial number.

    Contact them 800-333-4200. They are available Monday-Thursday from 9:00AM - 5:00PM EST and Friday from 9:00AM - 2:00PM.
