    Hi,

Looking to upgrade my irons. I've played with 962's last 10 years or so and was wondering what would be comprable. AP2 or CB?Something else?  12 hdcp , but irons are not the problem with my game. Being left handed, its tough to try clubs out. Thanks for any info...

I just made the same switch this year. My handicap has been as low as 9, but I'm higher now (3 kids will do that). I tried the AP2, CB, and MB. All were great. At first glance, I'd say the AP2 was closes to the 962, but all three of these clubs feel so much softer than the 962s. I'm guessing it is the difference between cast and forged.

In my game, good contact with my irons has never been an issue, and I ended up with the MBs. I know. I know. People think I'm nuts because everyone knows you HAVE to be a 4 or better to even think about blades. All I can say is that I learned on blades, and the numbers don't lie. The launch monitor had the MBs with my preferred ball flight.

Frankly, I didn't feel much difference between the CB and MB, other than the MB had a lower, more boring flight for me. Mishits really didn't seem that much different. The AP2 went a bit high for me unless I went with a X100 shaft, and I wanted to avoid that.

What I ended up with: MB 710, 1" long, 1° upright, DG S300 shaft (hard stepped 1)

With this setup, the 6 iron was carrying about 180-185 yards. Spin was 6000-6300. I saw more spin and shorter carries with the AP2 and CB. Looking around this site, it seems that a lot of people end up with stronger lofts on the AP2 to get the height down, but I didn't want to do that.
