I was told a Team Titleist VIP Event that the new irons will be coming out in November 2011. I am in the same boat as you are with which new irons to buy but I was told that the technology is not going to change very much from the AP2's maybe just a couple aesthetic tweaks.

Hi Jacob -
As the 710 is coming to the end of its life cylce you can expect to see new products near Fall 11' to Spring 12'. We do not have specific information to provide about the product line but I can tell you that the Advanced Performance (AP) line of irons will continue.

As you both have probably seen, the Prototype 712 iron pics have been released. But as for detailed information about the product performance we'll have to wait until the Tour Validation process is complete and we approach an official launch date. Hopefully, the pre-released images provide some help for both of you.

They're looking sweet either way. I just got some AP2's so I can wait to see them in stores, my willpower goes out the window when I'm in a golf shop.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on AP1's until I got the email about the 2012 irons coming out. So I will be anxiously waiting for the 2012 AP1's, they look amazing!

I got fitted at Manchester Lane for AP1 irons with regular flex Nippon 105T Steel shafts in May 2011, If I wanted to upgrade should I go with the same specs on the 712 AP1s or should I schedule another fitting in the spring?
I am also interested in moving to the 712 AP2 irons but only had a chance to try them off the rack and didn't like the feel of the stock S300 shafts. hoping to be able to play these if I go to a custom club builder to find the right shaft, softer flex, higher launch, probably get the new sticks frequency matched etc.
Is this something I could have done from Titleist or should I go to a club builder to get custom shafts frequency matched etc. There is a club builder in my area (RI) that advertises custom built Titleists
Opinions anyone?

Yahoooo
...I just went to a Tilteist fitting in Illinois with the NEW 2012 AP1's & AP2's. I was torn between the Titleist irons and another set of irons But after hitting and getting fitted.By far I will order the NEW 2012 AP2 712 irons. I also took the advise of Titleist and went with 4i 5i 6i (AP1) and 7i 8i 9i and PW in the AP2 . Hope this helps you . Al
