I am currently playing Titleist 704 CBs and play with an eight handicap. I am prepared to purchase new irons during the fall and have been looking at the 710 Mbs. My questions are: What are the benefits of moving from a cavity back to a muscle back? Will I notice any differences?

Thank you for the help in advance.

The benefits of moving from a cavity back to a muscle back head are improved feedback at impact on your swing. You should be able to work the ball a lot more with an mb, and the center of gravity will be a fraction higher on the face which should give you a lower ball flight. That being said mb's aren't for everyone. You might find hitting longer irons a bit more difficult just because of the look. See if you can get fitted and take a look at your ball speed and launch angle with the mb's and compare it your current set. I'm a 4 hcp and I'm currently playing a 710 cb/mb combo set and I feel totally comfortable with the setup as far as looks/feel/performance are concerned. I tried the 710 mb during my fitting and found that the ball speed on my miss-hits were much better with the cb's than the mb's, almost a 9 mph difference which was about 15 yards!

Thanks, I am definitely taking your advice into consideration. I have scheduled a fitting appointment with Titleist this coming Saturday and I will make sure to mention the possibility of having a mixed bag of CBs and MBs. Thanks again!
