910 D3 Driver - Which Setting Should I Use? Very Confused....

  1. I was fitted for my 910 Driver and got a D3 with a RIP 60 shaft.  It was recommended I use the D*4 setting for optimal trajectory and distance.  However, the ball always fades on this setting for me (even during the fitting).  My distance is good, but the fades turn into "power" fades in which I am losing the ball in the woods.

I would like the ball to go straight or a little bit of a draw to match my irons.  I am really confused on the settings though.  I don't want to compensate for a bad swing by closing the clubface, but I seem to aim the club right of my target at address (my eye tells me it is straight at target but when I verify it is to the right).

What is the effect of a C*3 setting?  Does that close the face .5 and add.75 loft?  Or is the face actually closed 1.0?

Is D*4 closed .5?  or is it square?

I always thought that opening the clubface increases the loft (like with a lob wedge)?  I just dont understand the chart and the effects of everything.  Thanks!!

Hi John,  Increasing the loft will close the clubface and reducing the loft will open the clubface.  So a D4 setting is .5° closed, .75 more loft and standard lie angle.  A C3 setting will be the same face angle and loft, but will make the lie .75 more upright which might help you with your desired ball flight.   Give us a call at 1-888-TITLEIST and we can walk you through it if it still doesn't make sense.
