Just a query to see what everyone's preferred club arrangement is to minimise club chatter when carrying a bag? I've got a Player 4 stand bag but still getting the odd rattle from my irons when walking. I have the following setup: Driver and 3 wood in 'top' divider. 4,5,6 in middle right divider 7,8,9 in middle left divider Putter and wedges in bottom

if anyone has any other arrangement methods I'd be happy to give them a shot, I hate the little dings you get when irons knock together.

    Hello,

From my experience, it is almost impossible to eliminate the little dings you get on your irons unless you put head covers on them. Now this comes with its share of good and bad, but one thing that is for sure is that you will keep your irons from getting those dings. The only other method that I could think of is separating your irons in a very unorthodox fashion throughout your bag but even then, they are still close enough to bump into each other. If you find a successful arrangement though, let me know!
  3. The best thing I found besides headcovers (nobody wants headcovers lol). But the best I found is to just a weave a towel through the bag. Not so much a bag towel, but an actual larger bath towel (like a straight white one). That should solve the problem.

Here's what I'm referring too. It's just weaved down through 5-7 section, up and around on the 8-PW, and then down and around the gap, 54 and 58°. Or whatever way works best. For me when I would walk this really helped alot.

I'll give an actual towel a try, I've tried using a bag towel which was clipped to the bag and fed back under the rain cover but this made it difficult to get the clubs put as one end was fixed in.
I've tried iron covers in the past but took them off half way through my first round after being the brunt of endless jokes
  5. don't let the endless jokes get to you. just wear knickers while playing and no one will notice the head covers.

I have the same stand bag with driver and putter on top, 3-6 and 7-P middle, and 50°, 56°, 60°, 62° bottom. Your bag set up sounds spot on. Don't stress about chatter and DON'T use iron covers! Awkward!

Weave your Titleist towel through the heads!

Agree on weaving a towel if that is an issue. And a Titleist towel to support the team, as Todd noted. Never had that problem. Personally do feel that those plastic head covers for irons are very good for them. Just an opinion. Would not put them on my clubs. As to how to organize you clubs, sounds good. In any order which easiest to remember.
  9. I like and use iron covers, the neoprene type, slip it off into back pocket, hit shot install off you go.

I agree. I also use neoprene iron covers. Helps keep your clubs looking nice without the dings from other clubs and cuts down on the noise!

Got the same bag, I put driver, 3, hybrid, putter on top, 3,4,5 left side, 6,7,8 right side, and 9, P, 52, 56 on bottom. Not much rattle, maybe a little bit.

Go with the towel idea. I am using roughly the same configuration as you are and get the occasional ding too.
  13. I have a 14way stand bag and i can really recomend putting clubs in following order. Seen from the top.

    Putter
    Driver 4+sticks GW
    Spoon 5 8 SW
    Hybrid 6 9 LW
    7 Pw
  14. While walking, I simply hold the iron heads with my right hand. This eliminates the irons from rattling and also helps balance the bag weight by taking a small amount of the weight from the right shoulder.

Chatter is one of the joys of walking. I love the sound!

When using iron covers and a 14-way divider bag, you don't really need to cover every iron. I only cover every other iron so every uncovered iron only makes contact with a covered iron. If you arrange it so there are no covers on the outside clubs, it effectively hides most of the covers. Good luck!
