StaDry Zipper issues

  1. I purchased a StaDry in the winter of 2016-2017 and have had the bag for close to 19 months. I bought it at the same time I bought my new clubs. (AP2 irons). I have used the bag somewhere close to 30 rounds and have had issues with the zipper on the main gear pouch since it was new. They are waterproof zippers and I thought it would get better with use. This weekend the zipper came all the way off and there is no repairing it. I was told by customer service that they will not do anything for me so I am out a bag that I paid in the upper 200s for. I've always had Titleist bags and have generally liked them but this bag is useless after 19 months. The waterproof zippers are junk. Has anyone else had issues with the zippers? I am very disappointed by Titleist's response. I am a loyal customer who has Irons, Bag, Balls (Prov1) Cameron Putter, Vokey Wedges, Footjoy Shoes. I explained that and was not helped at all. Pretty sad.

Why didnt you report the issue with the main pocket zip when it was new?? You said you had 'issues with the main pocket from new' Why wait 19 months until it finally went? Surely you would have had a better response for Titleist if you did it at the time. Ive just bought the Stadry Deluxe Cart bag, if i had issues with anything , I would have reported it straight away not wait 19 months
  3. I too have a StaDry bag that has zipper failures. The first was on the lower middle pouch that failed this spring and the second was on the upper middle bag that failed this month. The bag was 2 years old last month and cost $319. I too am Titleist brand loyal. I expected the bag to last longer than 2 years.

I too have one of the original StaDry 4UP bag I use for occasions when it might rain. That is almost never here in San Diego but I take it to Bandon or other places it might rain. When I bought it I knew zipper life would be an issue. I am in the defense business on the life-cycle support side so I know about long term maintenance items. The catch 22 on these zippers are the technology. A toothed zipper will not be waterproof but a plastic sealed zipper like on a zip-lock bag will wear out quickly. The only long term solution would be for Titleist to change future designs to have toothed zippers but use a material overlay system like the front fly on a man's pants. I have worked with the Titleist bag testers in the past and given an opportunity in the future, will suggest this design improvement on future generation StaDry bags.

I realize that the current StaDry do use a smaller modified tooth zipper made from nylon so yes, more durable than a ziplock seal but still not as good as a stainless steel zipper with a protective overlap. We will see how technology can evolve to give a longer lasting yet just as waterproof version for future bags. Definitely a challenge.
