It was a beautiful Father’s Day and the greens were rolling nicely. I was with my father-in-law, brother-in-law and two other in laws for a rare fivesome. Unfortunately, my own father lives a few hours away and wasn’t able to make it.
I got up to the tee box on the third hole par 3 and looked down at the green - roughly 141 yards to the pin, over a body of water. I remember getting into my stance and saying to my BIL that I wanted to hit it a little right of the flag since I had more area to miss on that side. He said “go for it, bro,” and I did.
I hit a nice high draw that landed about 3-4 yards behind the flag. We watched it as the backspin and the backstop slowly drained the ball towards the left side of the pin. The entire time my father-in-law was yelling “HOLE IN ONE! HOLE IN ONE!”
Finally, it dropped out of sight. It was the most surreal moment yet that I’ve had in golf. I am very grateful that I got to experience that with my family and especially grateful for the little extra push needed to spin back down the green by my pro V1.
