Fulford Heath GC, Worcestershire U.K. 3pm Tuesday 14th December 2021. In a four ball playing 3 other teams with 3 from 4 to count and playing the 16th. Front tees playing 154yds to the pin, carrying a lake and a 30ft sheer bank to the elevated green.
Took a 6 iron and caught it well with a slight draw. Flag was visible but not the hole due to the elevation. Ball was nicely towards the pin than a loud bang!
Someone shouted you’ve hit the pin which means it’s probably now somewhere off the green. Just prior to this I had lost a ball and found a decent Titleist 4 TruFeel in yellow as I had lost my usual ball.
On arrival at the green no sign of mine except 3 white balls. I had already started scouring the area around the green for mine but as I approached the pin i knew it was in by the huge chunk out of the side of the hole which was missing and there in all its glory at the bottom of the the yellow ball sat. After 28 years now I had done it my first hole in one.
Now the story didn’t end there because one of the lads in the group had a hole in one on the par 4 fourth. I can can tell that a substantial amount of the amber Scotish drink was consumed that afternoon and evening.
