After a 20 year hiatus, I started golfing again last year. Bought a set of Titleist AP2 714 irons and immediately become addicted to the game. Going through the maddening ups and downs of golf, I found myself in a bad spot with my swing. In hopes of catching a spark, I decided to golf my hometown 9 hole course for the first time in over two decades. Things were going surprisingly well over the first 4 holes. Disaster on the 5th tee with a massive slice into the bottom of a merciless gorge. Great, vibes took a hit. 6th tee on a par 3 reads as 147 yards. Looks shorter so we shoot the range finder and see it is 137. Ok, grab the Titleist PW and step up. Easy swing but caught the heel a bit. Ball starts left side of green but slides into a baby fade toward the center. Bounces once on the green and flies right. I hear the ball strike the stick, it jumps up a bit then drops straight down the flag stick and out of sight. Oh. My. God. I cannot see the ball. My playing partner asks "Did that go in?!" I think so... We cruise up to the green and she jumps out and runs to the cup, reaches down and pulls out my ball. I am shocked and a little heartbroke to not get to see it and take it out myself. Doesn't matter. Hole in one on my hometown course! First ace for me and on a special course. Floated through the rest of the round and have never had a better day of golf.
