On Thursday April 7th this year (2025) I rushed out after school (I am a secondary school teacher) to play in our 9 hole competition as it was a beautiful sunny afternoon/evening. I teed off at 3.40pm with two lovely ladies from the club Margaret and Siobhan. I was playing quite well and enjoying the beautiful weather and company. We arrived at the 6th hole which overlooks the Irish sea. It is a very challenging par 3 called Aliera 142 yards. A lovely hole that requires a perfect tee shot. Usually this is a hole to make 3, smile and move on. This made my hole in one all the more special as I actually saw the ball disappear into the hole from the tee box. It was all a bit surreal to be honest but walking the 142 yards to retrieve my ball was very special. My two playing partners were delighted for me. I will never forget that day. When we returned to the clubhouse there were very few around but we did celebrate with a bottle of bubbly and lots of good wishes. I used a Titleist pro v1 which is now on my mantlepiece with my scorecard from that day. What a very special day!!!
