I picked up golf about a year ago, the first day I began seriously practicing with a goal in mind was may 11th, 2024, my second time ever playing my home course (Keowee Key in Salem, SC) from the tips, I was only playing nine holes. We started on the 10th tee, and I had a fantastic round leading up to my HIO. I was even par thru 16 and had a good feeling about 17, I set my phone up to record my swing, not thinking as much about "i'm going to hole out", but "get a good swing on video and hopefully you stick it close", I placed my ball down, didn't take a practice swing, waggled once, and miraculously hit the greatest shot of my life!!! The 17th green is 200 yards to the front and elevated, so I was almost hitting a blind-ish shot, I could see the top half of the pin, but I had no idea where my ball went after it came down (though I knew it was going to be very close). I cannot describe the feeling I had when I started to pull the cart up the hill and didn't see my ball on the green, I instantly pulled my phone out to record just in case it really did go in. I checked everywhere but the hole, and then I walked over and peeked in and there it was!! I'm still in shock. I wish my grandfather was here to see it. He was a great golfer, though never had a hole in one. I picked up the sport after he passed, but I wish I had taken the time to learn from him while he was still here. I've wanted to get one for him ever since I started. That shot will be etched into my mind forever. Words cannot describe how I feel right now. That was for you grandpa, hopefully you're looking down on me proudly!
