On Sunday, June 8, was playing Cold Spring Country Club, my home course. After a slow start on the first two holes, I got to the third hole, a tricky Par 3 whose green is mostly surrounded by sand. On this day, the distance was 129 yards, the pin was placed in the back right of the green, and there was a light wind. I chose a 9-iron, hit it crisply. It landed in the center of the green and rolled into the cup. I was stunned.
Interesting post-script, one of the players in the foursome behind us, then mad his own first hole-in-one.
