On August 15, 2025, I was playing at Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield, CT with Paul, Gary, and Mikael—three players I had just met that day. I started the round off a little rattled after accidentally driving to the wrong course and barely making it in time for my tee time. I was out there practicing for a scramble charity event coming up Monday.
When we reached Hole 8 (Par 3, 145 yards), with two bunkers guarding the front and the pin tucked right in the middle, I pulled out my TM 5 hybrid and a Titleist DT TruSoft. The shot bounced on the green, then disappeared. For a moment, I wasn’t sure; had it rolled off the back? As we walked up, there it was… in the cup. My first hole-in-one!
Gary said he’d never seen one before, which made it even more special. Of course, golf being golf, I promptly duffed my next tee shot. Balance restored!
