Curious everyone’s thoughts on these now that they’ve been in stores to try for a bit. Love the look of the new line, but they just feel too soft for me. Can’t pull the trigger on adding one to the arsenal. I know feel is subjective, anyone else had the same experience?

  2. I love the softer feel, played my first round with it yesterday and loved the feel and distance control.
  3. I tested the new ones today and they feel different from the current newport 2 select gamer

I have played odyssey putters for a long time. I found that the white hot insert that several models have is just way too soft. I have currently been using a milled Odyssey that has performed very well. Just ordered a Scotty Cameron phantom five and looking forward to seeing how it. works out. Being a lefty, I don’t have a lot of choice in the Titleist offerings. Was glad they came out with the Phantom 5 in a left-handed version this year. Anyone have any thoughts on the relative firmness or softness of the phantom 5?

I'm one that likes a firm, clicky feel of a putter and ball. Picked up a Long Design Phantom 11 when they came out after playing a Futura X for almost 10 years. Very similar feel. I like the milled face and I use a Left Dash ProV1X. I tried the Studio Style the other day for fun, and it was nice. It's definitely softer than the milled face, but still of the firmer side of soft. I agree that the Odyssey putters are really soft. If I were to arbitrarily rate them in feel, my Phantom 11 would be an 8 on a 1-10 scale of firm. I would say a Odyssey white hot insert would be like a 2, an odyssey metal insert a 4, and the new Scotty a 6. It's softer, but not too soft. But this is with a firm clicky ball. As (hopefully) we all know, ball fitting should start at the green, with feel off the putter being a huge part of what you are playing.

I typically play AVX, but I started messing around with ProV1X because AVX feels like a marshmallow with my 009. I've been gaming a Catalina for the last couple weeks and the insert feels absolutely perfect with the V1X.
  7. Softer is a sound believe it or not...it is also a function of the ball you are playing such as the AVX or ProV1. You may wish to try a different all like ProV1x or ProV1x left dash.

    Just my two cents...

I grabbed an NP+ the day they came out. I love the feel of it.

I game a 2018 NP2 - V1x or left dash. Something about that insert when you hit it in the middle is so satisfying from a sound/feel perspective I keep wanting to upgrade but haven’t been able to lol

It's quite interesting that Scotty has changed with the times with respect to putter feel. They had the aluminum sole and face of one version of Phantoms, then went to solid stainless body/face with aluminum sole plate for a bit more sound/feel. Now, they have gone to the carbon steel insert on the blade styles.

Personally, I like/want some sound and feel to help judge lag putts!
