Swapping weights in a Scotty Cameron Newport putter

  1. Hello - I wanted to swap out the weights in my Scotty Cameron putter. I have additional weights from Scotty Cameron and the Scotty Cameron tool for weights. Someone at Scotty Cameron told me that they use adhesives to hold the weights in the putter. Just wondering (from someone who has made the swap) how strong the adhesive is that they use. I ask because I don't want to damage or scratch the putter when I try to remove the weights.

Hi Michael, the factory adhesive isn't very difficult to get through if you're using the tool from scotty. That requires a socket wrench so you have good leverage. The knockoff wrenches that are one piece may need a little more force. In any event, just be sure the lugs are flush and you turn level to avoid slippage that could scratch. A vise would be good if you want to thread carefully but I've only ever done them by hand. Reinstallation doesn't require any adhesive, be sure to use the gasket and don't overtighten.
  3. It is not too stiff, but you can use a heat gun if needed little to soften them up if required...

    Pretty easy!

    Cheers
  4. For some of my putters, it came off when I used the tool by hand, others require a little heat to loosen the adhesive. Take a heat gun and run it over the weight for a couple seconds then the weight will come off very easily.
