The lofts on the 6 iron through P Wedge are 1 - 2 degree(s) weak as compared to some other brands (players irons:  apples to apples).  I understand one may strengthen or weaken lofts when placing the order.  I am considering ordering with factory spec lofts and only changing the lie (two degrees upright) but am also considering strengthening the 6 iron through P wedge (the loft of my current irons that would be replaced).  I did participate in a Titleist fitting at my home course this past summer and the expert recommended the AP2 with DG S300 shafts but this question was never discussed.  My current irons (not Titleist) are stronger than the AP2...I love the looks and feel of the AP2 and want to complete the bag with Titleist equipment...just do not want to buy clubs and lose distance.  Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Actually Steve, the lofts 21* 24, 27,31,,35,39,43,47 are right on with the majority and has been for quite awhile, if you current irons are stronger then they are oddly strong, which was simply for the advertising that you can hit these farther than others.

From this board it seems the 710 AP2 needed to be delofted to hold down the spin, haven't seen anything about the fittings of the 712's.

Now the important stuff, irons are about accuracy, not distance. The irons made to fly the ball maximum distance don't have the spin to hold the green........what you want is the ball to hit the green and stop.

To accomplish this you need the launch angle, ball speed, and backspin to produce a ball flight, that appears from the golfers view, to fly up up up up then drop straight down(it doesn't really drop straight down but it does come down at a much steeper angle than it went up).

For me, if you get some AP2's, and you find that using a ProV1 the ball spins too much, before you let them bend to a stronger loft, hit a few NXT's and see what kind of numbers you come up with..........I've asked a few times and nobody will answer, since I now use NXT's and my current irons were perfect for ProV1's my current irons don't work as well, so I've been thinking about getting some AP2's, but I would like to know if it makes any difference before I buy any.
