I work at the half way house at a public golf course. The menu right now is hot dog, burger, sandwiches, snacks & drinks. We should be opening up in the next week or so and they want to change to the same menu as in the clubhouse. I disagree with this and think it should be basically a grab & go menu, to keep the pace moving. What do you think is the purpose of a half way house?

Why not put in a system where the players can call and place their order on the 9th tee. 10 minutes later, when they are done with the hole, they can swing by and
"grab and go" on to the 10th tee. I remember years ago at one course seeing a telephone near the 9th tee. With cell phones today, all you need is a sign and a menu at the 9th tee.

Grab n go for sure.. I've played a few courses that had a call box on the 9th tee box that opened up the menu to to some longer prepared items bit still keeping the pace of play..

You gotta have the Hot Dog in there, grab and go!

Completely agree with the sentiment -- "grab and go" (with or without a call box/call ahead feature) or else the course is really saying that they are paying lip service to "Pace of Play".

Slightly off topic, but the same goes for those golf courses that have tee time intervals of 8 minutes, yet advertise their pace of play as being more like 10 - 12 minutes per hole!
  7. I agree...grab n go! Who wants to have a more deluxe menu at the halfway house...if I delay making the turn too long I get very stiff!
  8. Calling ahead is nice but can get confusing if you have a common name and the course double books back and front, or maybe I am just unlucky either way pace of play at the turn needs to be respected.

Even at a course with a call box, I rarely get anything more than a hotdog. Anything more becomes too difficult to eat between shots. I like to finish my lunch before I reach the 10th green

grab and go, all the way... There's a reason for the 19th hole....

Grab and go. I really don't eat food as heavy as a hotdog in the middle of a round. Cold sandwich, crackers, drinks. Keep it simple

    That won't last long.

Definitely grab and go! We have a call box on the 8th tee and the snack shack is actually in the back of the clubhouse. Menu is the usual dogs & burgers but if you do want a sit-down lunch you can always go into the clubhouse.

Grab & GO! However, think about including healthier options, fresh fruit, yogurt cups, bags of nuts, dried fruit and snack bars along with the standard fare. I'll wait until after the round to have a beer & a burger i.e, the 19th Hole But on the course it needs to be quick and easy.

I'm with PhillyFan on this one. It should be grab and go with a call ahead box, but menus should feature options that won't weigh you down. Fruit, granola, nuts etc... I love a burger and brew as much as the next guy, but not when I've got 2 more hours of walking ahead of me.

For sure with the grab and go. Play can be slow enough at times and never mind trying to eat something time consuming during a round!!

If there is a way to pre order, so it's ready when you hit the turn,
( call in or order carts gps system). Otherwise grab and go.
