This large interloper was found on our course and removed. It wanted to play through, a member was not playing with it (thank god), and had not paid the visitor fee. Proshop was called and removed it from the course. A golf professional's job is most certainly a varied one!
In the last week five such interlopers have been removed. They are beginning to move to their hibernation dens near the river.

I played the Diamondback Golf Course in Haynes City Florida (now closed). They had a huge stuffed rattler in the Pro Shop. They said not to look for balls off the fairway. "We're loaded with rattlers". Needless to say I hit every fairway except one. I saw the ball about 10 feet in the tall grass and left it for the snakes. Scary critters for sure.

Played in New Mexico last year at a course called Black Mesa right above Santa Fe about 20 miles. Beautiful course.
Sign in the pro shop said to beware of rattlesnakes and on the first tee they had a sign advising that this was a rattlesnake conservatory-and to be very careful looking for balls hit in the rough.
Saw one snake in a cart path that seemed to be dead but i didnt stop to see for myself. I abandoned a few Titleists that day...
