Sad. In a world where we now glorify and encourage asinine behavior as in the drunk fest known as the Waste Management, a simple gentlemen's test of skill has been tarnished. People throwing objects at player's wives? C'mon. Probably by one of the "sportsmen" who attach giant speakers to the golf cart so they can drink and blast music about the course. We have lost our moral compass in this country and I hope and pray the kids and grandkids are able to get it back.

My parents, although they had strong opinions, they tempered how I should behave with others. What seems to be missing is respect for others.

I watched on Tv. I enjoyed the golf, lots of good players on both sides.

America was about making each generation better than the generation before. Somewhere along the way, the meaning of improving has been lost. Glad I grew up on a working farm where I was taught respect of self and others, working hard, love of god and country, manners, responsibility and consequences. We were not so materialistic back then and brought up on tuff love. People only act out if you allow them to. I would say alot of the blame goes on the PGA and those in charge of those events. I was a chairperson of marshals at PGA events in our area and I had radios to my hole captains and to security. If there were issues with crowds, my hole captains radioed me and I came to the area with security and resolved the issue. Plain and simple. They were escorted out. It has to do with proper training and control of the crowd by the marshals. They blew it at the Ryder cup. The event at Scottsdale is out of control and the sponsors and the committees seem to want it that way. It's about the love of money and the dollars that hole brings in.

The Ryder Cup has become a circus. The 16th at Waste Mgt isn’t far behind.

I watch less golf each year. I don’t see any reason to watch the Ryder Cup again. I was very disappointed, but not surprised, in the events this year.
  6. Why not cut off the alcohol sales early like they do at other major sporting events? I think that might help.

Hmmm. $20 for a 16 oz can of suds have anything to do with not closing sales?

It’s fair to cheer after an opponent shanks a tee shot or misses a short putt. After all, most are achieving generational wealth. But respect their right to quiet to make a stroke, and save the obscenities for your local bar and really leave spouses out of it

About 35 years ago our foursome was enjoying our post round beverages when the conversation turned to the guy who used to yell "You Da Man" after every shot, which was popular at the time. One in our group commented that one day the PGA tour will turn into the WWF. and we all said, "Aw come on, golf will never come to that." Well, he never lived long enough to see his prophesy come to pass, but except for the Masters, it has. Live sporting events have been taken over by a bunch of leather-lunged drunks.
