Yes the title is correct, If you are getting up in age 60+ get your PSA levels checked. I did and am glad I did. Mine was high and yes it's cancer . Lucky it was caught early and I should be good to go in a couple months. No restrictions so I will be on the course through it all. A PET scan showed it was contained to the Prostate , a big relief on that. Not looking for anything from anybody just a heads up to all "seasoned duffers". Have fun and hit um straight.

You are 100% correct. I would encourage every man over 40 to have their PSA checked during their annual physical. It’s just an added screening during routine blood work. Prostate cancer is one of the easiest to treat when it’s caught early.
Dave, I wish you the best of health going forward! Glad you caught it early.

Yep! And PSA levels can fluctuate so it’s just one indicator. I just did my MRI and doing a biopsy on a “spot of interest” in a few weeks. I was lucky that early detection limited my kidney cancer to just the one right kidney a few years ago. Between seeing a primary care physician, dermatologist, and urologist, I plan to hang around for a few more years, especially with the new GTS drivers and fairways coming out.

And wishing you the best in your treatment and progression. Dad has had his for 10+ years with minimal problems and very slow growth. Unfortunately now at 93, pancreatic cancer is going to take him soon. He’s okay and ready to join mom. Thanks for sharing Dave, and best wishes!

All the best to your dad.

Glad to hear you are doing ok. The right detection approach worked in this case.

Over the last 20 years detection has been evolving. Besides a PSA test, any change in flow needs to be checked. The risk of aggressive disease declines over age, but never gets to zero. Ask questions.

Good luck with your recovery. Am a believer and have been going annually since my early fifties. PSA hangs around 1. My urologist takes good care of me, modern meds are wonderful and he will be taking me off them in April. He performed a Turp procedure two and a half weeks ago, which was painless and an easy recovery. Oh what a relief in that flow, Don. Played at golf today.
