  1. When should they be coming out? New year?

  2. RKelly,

Believe Adam Scott has a new Vokey on testing.... well, that's according to his Titleist profile What's in the Bag...
Probably means that "Son of SM7" is in the pipeline.
Wonder if the name will change - pretty much all the latest releases have rebadged except MB & CB.

I'd agree that they will probably go with a different name.

New wedges (probably SM8, unless a rebrand as mentioned above) should be out around March / April I believe, that's the usual cycle.

Re WITB's a lot of pro's profiles on the site will have Proto of sorts when it comes to wedges. That doesn't necessarily mean that its a SM8 proto being tested. Vokey has lots of tour only heads / grinds that are classed as proto's and are for the tour only! Voke and Aaron (and Will on this side of the pond!) do some amazing work, I love seeing their weekly updates from the tour.

I've just done the same, I'm absolutely cool with it. I'm guessing you bought new ? Then I don't see the issue cause lets be honest here, there can't be much more technology they can put in to a club face groove as everything is controlled so tightly now.

As above it will probably be a release around February and availability in March as were the SM7's. But I guess pro feedback and manufacturing might change timings.

My 7's are looking a bit used so going to have them checked at my fitting next week.

Will the name change? I'm not sure as Vokey and Scotty are virtually there own brands and unless the new wedges aren't spin milled why would they change from the famous and trusted Vokey SM's.

A cynical view would be that a name change will have the people change from the old models without getting a massive change in the technology ...How many are going to trade AP3's to T200's ? All manufacturers do this luckily Titleist don't do it every year.

I was going to upgrade from my sm5’s to the 7’s but I’ll just wait a bit on the new models coming out and try to get a fitting for them if poss.

Let's hope if they do go for a rebrand the come up with something better than the latest offerings from TM and Cali... Otherwise I'll be sticking with SM7's.

Nice to see people getting excited around the dates of the new wedges.

I’ve had Vokeys in the bags for 3/4 years now and must admit I wound not even think of changing brands.

Even if TM’ cally or Cleveland had something better on the market which would have to be something special “ I stick to what I know and how I like the feel of my Vokey “

For me it’s a feel and sound thing. SM7’s have been the best in the bag since I played Vokeys and the new wedges would have to be something special.

That special I have already found a new SM7 52 and 58 for when I need to replace the first ones I’ve brought.

Every body is different I guess but I’m sticking to what I know and like till the next set of Vokeys really blow these SM7’s out the water.

Hope all the TT fans and Golfers are enjoying there golf and have had a great summer of Golf.

    Hi Team Titleist,

Scott Hend just received his SM8 proto's in the bag!
Adam Scott is testing with it for several weeks now.

  15. Hi Bart, have spoken to Will our Vokey rep and he has advised that the above image for Scott Hend is an SM7 in 60 degree T grind and not an SM8. Keep an eye out though!

    Kind regards

    Bart,

    As per my reply above;

Re WITB's a lot of pro's profiles on the site will have Proto of sorts when it comes to wedges. That doesn't necessarily mean that its a SM8 proto being tested. In addition to that, Vokey has been stamping wedges 'proto' since around 1996 / 1997 I believe (have to check but I think the earliest stamped Proto I have in my collection is '96 or 97). While some of these proto's will help develop the next OTR release, they have always had a large amount of tour only grinds and custom grind proto's, stamped with the year, in use on tour and not necessarily the next version of the OTR release.
  17. Are the new sm 8 going to come in a raw finnish

I would guess that like the SM6 and SM7 they will be available in raw but from WedgeWorks only, I don't think they would make the standard release.

So they have now officially started seeding on tour for the SM8 and the early pictures show an amazing looking wedge. Really looking forwards to giving them a test. Anyone interested please see link below to the Vokey website: -

Hope they come in a raw or onyx finish!

Just bought some SM7s with my iron shaft in as I thought I’d see if they improved my control and feel my discussion point do we think wedges have drastically changed or are we talking about minimal improvement like the pro v1 people prefer old one or expect the new ones to take them to another level
  22. SM8 being tested this week. Probably about March release I would expect.

I really hope Bob adds a wedge like the TM high toe to the line up.
  25. Well, the SM8's are certainly a departure from the SM versions that went before it...
Obviously, I'll wait to try them and see how they perform but, visually, I wasn't expecting them to look like this.
