  1. So I’m sure we have all been told and try to use the same balls for that constant feel, spin flight etc, But do you change your balls during winter?

It’s tuff loosing premium golf balls when hitting down the middle of the fairway only to loose it under leaves, plugged etc!

I try when funds allow to use prov1x during summer, but now I’m getting really peed off with loosing so many in winter

Thinking of going true feel through winter

I feel your pain. Couple of weeks ago playing after the trees took a battering from the Storms that passed through lost 4 Pro v1s 2 just off fairway, one missed green just off the edge and 1 done the fairway.

Felt like a kick in the teeth every time. Thank good it was just a friendly game and not a medal.

Have a box of Tour Speed Yellow im thinking of busting out

I used a yellow ProV1x this morning. It was excellent in the low light first thing and wasn’t too bad amongst the leaves.
  4. Totally agree with this thinking, played last week and hit good drives that just leaked into first cut of rough, walked up and literally could not find the balls anywhere! 3 brand new tour speeds :(

I use velocity balls in the winter they seem to be very good and I will switch back to pro v1 at the start of the season

I change from a ProV1X to the Velocity during the Winter months , same high flight I require but not as expensive, this as suggested by Titleist staff during a fitting a couple of years ago.

Me too. I have started testing AVX as it gives me a lower ball flight. However losing 2 under leaves at the weekend was a pain. Does anyone know if Titleist have a cheaper equivalent that gives that lower trajectory?

Nothing better than hitting a new ball of the tee, it agree in the winter it’s a real pain.

Probably not the smartest move but I tend to pick up some secondhand Pro V’s to ease the pain.

I think we are all in the same boat we’re we hate to lose a PRO V

Our Grounds Keepers put all the balls they find into same model bags of 12 balls and sell them £3 or£4 a dozen with money going to the club charity.

Means I have just discovered that for a few quid you can buy the balls your have lost (Mine have Keeno on from the 4 for 3 promo earlier this year), plus a couple more for practice, LOL

  10. Agree (mostly) with the above comments.
I tend to use AVX or Tour Soft in summer but have recently started a relationship with ProV1's.... Never really justified the cost of ProV's in the past due to a reckless and gung-ho approach, but I'm seemingly older and wiser now and less prone to trying to batter every shot as far as it will go without necessarily considering Direction.

I bought a couple of boxes of Tour Speed the other week and they are going OK - the free water bottle was not really an incentive as I like Lucozade (preferably orange) while playing. I normally plump for Velocity balls for the winter but the offer was better on Tour Speed this time round.
I'm not convinced that colour is a deciding factor as we seem to have leaves available to blend with any shade of golf ball. If a ball wants to get lost, it will.

  11. In the winter I tend to use some older balls that are in the bag or ones I've found. I make sure they are clean though to atleast get some performance out of them. Or I look on places like ebay or gumtree for people selling balls cheap and normally find a handful of decent titleist amount them

I use a Pro V1 through the winter, I tend to stock up on them when Titleist have the 4 for 3 offers in the spring, or if I'm lucky enough to win a prize in a comp I usually swap it for a dozen balls, maybe I'll clear out the seasons previous model through the winter if I have any.
If its a competition I like to play a new one, I've always played with a white ball but in my opinion the yellow ones come into their own when the light's dim of there's frost or leaves.

nothing worse than losing a pro v down the middle of the fairway as its plugged, or decided to play hide and seek with you, I move over to using old pro v1s i have in the practice bag, and sometimes find a few while looking for my own. always a bonus.

Yellow pro v’s all day long for me too, way too many trees and leaves on my course.
I bought a golf ball torch off of eBay a couple of years ago,
it’s great for finding free balls at night ️‍♂️
