Had an excellent fitting session yesterday with Stan Lewis from Titleist at Hookedongolf run by Liam Clarke.
First off, it's a great facility with the latest tech and you really do get a one on one fitting experience with no interruptions.
My TSR2 Driver isn't working for me now as the Tour AD Di shaft doesn't suit my swing anymore so I knew it was time for a change. So expected to move to a GT2 with a new shaft, which after testing various shaft and head combinations, that's what we came up with, well sort of.
As I was there I thought I'd look at a matching fairway wood in the new GT range; they're certainly easier to launch than my TSR 4 wood and after trying several combinations settled on a fairway wood which was a GT1 15* set to A3 with front CG setting and a Fujikura Ventus Blue+ 7 shaft.
A driving iron is something I've looked at for a while now and settled on a U505 3G 3 with the Hzrdus Black 4G 80.
Stan then suggested I try the new GT280 which I did and flushed it. What a weapon, it was so good I dropped the GT2 and went for one of these instead, set to C3 with standard weight settings and the matching Fujikura shaft.
So, not what I expected, spent loads but very happy, now just got to wait for them to arrive. Thumbs up to Stan, very knowledgeable, very professional and a great guy too and thanks Liam at Hookedongolf in Hook, great location and top guy for lessons too.
