Choosing the Right Putter for Your Game

Added on September 23, 2022
Great putting is a blend of technical precision and artistry. To putt your best, you need the right instrument and in today's game, no putter can match the advanced technology and aesthetic beauty of a Scotty Cameron putter. Scotty offers a wide variety of head styles, neck configurations, shaft lengths, weights and grips. To help you find the right Scotty for your game, we reached out to two experts on the subject, Titleist staff members Jason Baile and Brad Faxon.

In this video, Jason and Brad discuss recent trends in putting and they offer some great advice when it comes to comparing blade and mallet designs.

Key Takeaways:

• Compare as many different models as you can.
• Ideally, compare different models on a real putting green.
• Take a look at blades from the Scotty Cameron Special Select line, like the Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5.
• Also take a look at multiple mallet designs from Scotty's Phantom X and Monoblok lines.
• Take note of how each putter looks at address. The putter needs to look appealing to you. It must give you a confident sense that you can line the face up squarely and get the ball started on the correct line.
• Take note of how each putter feels and sounds at impact. Responsive feel is a key to touch and distance control.
• Hit a wide variety of putts with each model. You need a putter that performs on long lag putts as well as from short and mid-range.
• As you narrow narrow down your choices, test each model out on the golf course. Which model gives you the most confidence and performs the most consistently? That's the right Scotty Cameron for you.
