Stricker Controls FedEx Cup Fate

Ranked #2 in the FedEx Cup standings, Titleist ambassador Steve Stricker is in control of his own fate entering the final leg of the inaugural PGA Tour Playoffs this week at The TOUR Championship. If he is able to capture his second win of the playoffs, following his victory three weeks ago at The Barclays, then he is guaranteed to be the first holder of the FedEx Cup. Stricker can also hoist the Cup if he finishes second alone, as long as the current FedEx points leader finishes fourth or worse, and the player in third finishes third or worse. Stricker will be making his fourth career start in THE TOUR Championship, but his first since the 2001 season.

It's been another stellar season for the 40-year-old from Edgerton, Wisconsin, following a successful 2006 season during which he earned four top 10 finishes in his last five tournaments and was voted the PGA Tour's Comeback Player of the Year. Picking up right where he left off, Stricker posted nine top 10 finishes in 2007, earned a spot on his second Presidents Cup team and claimed his fourth career PGA Tour victory and first since the 2001 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. He entered the Playoffs as the #12 ranked player in FedEx points and has been on fire ever since, posting 11 of 12 rounds in the 60s and finishing in the top-10 in all three playoff events - something only one other player can claim. Thanks to his incredible consistency the past two years, Stricker, who began the 2006 season ranked 337th in the World Golf Ranking, has moved up to a career-best fifth in the Ranking following his win in New York. Keep an eye on Steve this weekend as he battles for the inaugural FedEx Cup.

Here are some pictures of Steve preparing for last week's BMW Championship outside Chicago, where he finished in third place.

Please see this post for Steve's Titleist club specs. And you can read some comments about the chrome 755 irons with the black dampening chip <a href=" rel="nofollow">here.

What are Steve's iron specs? What flex does he use in the Project X? Also, what's the story behind the black chip 755 irons on the Champions Tour? I saw them in a couple of bags and they look really, really good.

All of our players test new equipment when it is introduced, however, we don't require them to switch if they are comfortable with the equipment they are currently playing. It is hard to argue with the results Steve has been getting with his 905T!

I notice that Steve is currently playing the 905T driver. Has he done any experimenting with the new 907 models or is he satisfied that his current launch conditions are the best for his game? Thanks.
