Titleist Tips: Lie Above the Feet with Mark Blackburn

“Lie determines everything.”

This is how Titleist Staff Professional Mark Blackburn wants us to think about approach shots when we’re out on the course. Hitting more greens in regulation is a key to shooting lower scores and as Mark shows, a few small adjustments in setup and swing path can turn a difficult shot from a hanging lie into a birdie opportunity.

Try Mark’s keys the next time you’re negotiating a shot with a lie above your feet:

  • Stand a little closer to ball
  • Grip down on the handle
  • Ball position slightly back in the stance
  • Aim slightly right of the target
  • Swing a little more around your body and rotate through the shot

Thank you for that video. Mark spelled out what to do in an easy to understand fashion.

Great teaching video. I think it would be better viewed on line by adding ball tracing technology. Viewers could actually see what the instructor was talking about with the draw  flight of the Titleist.

Good lesson...would have hooked that into the bunker.

Question...how do I stop "yipping" putts?
