How does any every day joe find out if they need their driver\fairway shaft tipped .5-2 inches? Obviously the standard fitters don't have 300+ dollar shafts in every different length\weight\flex to fit you for the shaft you really need.

My spin numbers might be better with a 70x shaft than a 60x shaft but might maximize speed and spin numbers with a 60x shaft that's tipped 2 inches over that same 70x non-tipped (if that makes sense) but I would never know.. what do you all suggest?

  2. Unless your fitter recommends it, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Tipping really only comes into play when we have an "in between" option. The guy that swings 106 mph, but with a slower tempo might benefit from a Stiff flex that is tipped an inch to play more like an extra stiff but can get the benefit of a shaft that has a bit more torque and lighter weight. Or for the guy (co-worker) that swings it 128mph for his stock swing had his tour AD XC 6 X tipped an inch to play more like a TX shaft. You have to have a little blind trust and understanding of why tipping would make sense since trying a tipped shaft may not be possible.
