    Hey guys,

Christmas is coming up and I have some few questions about the Raw Finish SM8 wedges. I am very interested in getting a 50 F08 wedge.

My concern is with it being a raw finish, does it have any more impact on cutting the ball more than another finish of the SM8 wedges?

Do the wedges really build up rust? And does that help more with spin? I assume it would!

    Thanks in advance!

Raw wedges most definitely will rust over time. The advantages to Raw wedges are the reduction of glare compared to a chrome finish as well as being softer than a finished wedge. The softness allows more flexibility in grinds, weights, lofts, etc.. Spin, ball flight, distance, etc won't be affected by the finish.
  3. It may be tough to get an SM8 Raw right now. The SM9 should be out in early spring and availability might be better since it is a new launch. The Jet Black will also rust over time and although I have never tried it, soak it in Coke overnight and it strips the jet black finish and boom - raw wedge. As stated by Andrew, no spin difference, less glare and more pliable for any bending options.

Dave, I used vinegar to remove the jet black finish and I love the raw look!!!

I put mine in vinegar overnight, it didn’t come off. Joe long did yours take?
  6. I ordered a raw finish SM8 60 degree at the beginning of the year. There is a sticker on the club saying it will rust, but I don't care. The wedge is awesome. I have chipped in from off the green 3 times in the last 2 weeks. You feel like you can make everything. You won't regret it. And it looks great as well.

I have used RAW wedges for years now. Yes, they discolor a bit (get darker - not so much rusty) but during the season with regular use (I play 3-4 times per week) just regular cleaning keeps any rust from accumulating - just make sure they are dry when you put them away! In the spring each year (or if they get put away damp) I use a magic sponge and they clean right up.

Absolutely love the RAW wedge - no glare and more custom grind options available from Wedgeworks. My two cents.

I love the look of raw wedges. Each wedge develops its own personality based on the way it rusts over time. Can’t wait for the SM9’s!

If you haven't played raw wedges before it may take you a little time getting adjusted to the softer feel but once you do you will love them and never want anything else but a raw wedge!!!!

I was unsure when I bought my first raw finished wedges. Now I am a huge fan and will not buy another finish.

I have a raw SM8 48F, and I love the rust on it, so cool.
